Cervical screening

We encourage all women aged between 25 and 65 to attend for cervical screening, as it is a very good way of picking up cervical cancer at an early stage. You should book in to see one of our nursing team or contact Reception for evening and weekend appointment availability, if you are aware you are due to have this done or have received a reminder letter. Please note our GP’s do not routinely carry out the cervical screening checks. Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for testing every three years, and women aged between 50 and 64 are invited every five years. Results come centrally from the NHS, and you will usually get a letter sent to you with your results, though the labs are currently taking up to 6 weeks to process samples.
